Empowering Women of Colour in Aotearoa

Women of colour experience systemic and invisible racism and sexism, and their experiences are denied and dismissed.

We aim to be an anchor for WoC. We aim to provide a safe space where women of colour feel seen and heard, can recharge, challenge biases, feel empowered and be proud of their identity.

We strive to address the inequities in Aotearoa for WoC to thrive.

We are a rōpū mainly made up of women of colour who are tangata tiriti. We welcome all women of colour to join us while acknowledging the significance of and differences in the experiences of our sisters who are tangata whenua and people from the Pacific.

Inspiring Hui

We regularly have events for women of colour across Aotearoa so that we have the safe space to share, recharge and grow.

Check out what we have coming up. We would love to have you there!

Representation

We aim to be a voice for women of colour in Aotearoa and address the inequities that exist in our system. To do this well, we will need to gather data and conduct research as well as connect with others and governmental organisations in this space.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest for those who would like to get involved in this arm of WoC Aotearoa.

“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.”

— Audre Lorde, Writer
